Engineering Manager

Senior • Remote

Wrocław, DS, Poland

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to own team delivery, execution, and people leadership, ensuring engineering teams deliver high-quality outcomes in a predictable and sustainable way. This role owns how work gets delivered and how teams perform—not system-wide technical direction—and is a key partner to Product in turning plans into predictable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of team commitments: scope, timelines, and quality.
  • Build and lead high-performing engineering teams.
  • Drive execution practices: planning, estimation, and delivery cadence.
  • Ensure clear ownership and accountability within the team.
  • Hire, develop, and retain engineers.
  • Maintain team health, engagement, and performance.
  • Partner with Product and Design on planning and prioritization.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, and delivery trade-offs.
  • Ensure operational excellence at the team level, including on-call, incidents, and reliability.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience managing software engineering teams, including direct people leadership in hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Track record of owning delivery of team commitments: scope, timelines, and quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong command of execution practices: sprint or iteration planning, estimation, and delivery cadence.
  • Experience partnering with Product and Design to negotiate scope and priorities.
  • Comfort managing risk, dependencies, and delivery trade-offs across a team.
  • Experience owning team-level operational excellence, including on-call and incident response.
  • Track record of building and driving process from the ground up with high autonomy.
  • Strong track record of influencing senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners, not just direct reports.
  • Proven ability to independently build the case for hiring and capacity needs, not just execute against a pre-set plan.
  • Comfort creating clarity and structure in ambiguous or fast-changing environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience partnering with Principal or Staff engineers on architecture alignment, without owning it directly.
  • Background scaling a team through significant headcount or product growth.
  • Experience operating in a fully remote, distributed team environment.
  • Familiarity with working in a SOC 2 or similarly compliance-driven engineering organization.
