Senior Drupal Engineer (AWS)

About the role

We are seeking candidates for a client operating in Europe. As the Senior Drupal Engineer for a high-impact production site driving critical SEO traffic, you will take full accountability for architecture, performance, security, and deployments. You will operate with high autonomy as part of the technical SEO team, bridging custom Drupal backend engineering with cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Develop custom Drupal 10 modules using PHP 8.x, Symfony components, and Twig templating.
• Manage and maintain AWS and Docker containerized setups alongside CircleCI deployment pipelines.
• Drive technical SEO implementation, including URL structure, redirects, Core Web Vitals/page-speed optimization, and structured data.
• Monitor system health and site performance using Datadog, ensuring high availability and stability.
• Execute regular security patches, Drupal updates, and core upgrades.
• Support the editorial team with CMS workflows and contribute to headless CMS architecture.
• Participate in an on-call rotation.

Required qualifications

• 7+ years of production software development experience.
• Hands-on experience in Drupal 10 custom module development.
• Strong mastery of PHP 8.x, Symfony, and Twig.
• Solid understanding of technical SEO principles, including URL structure, redirects, page-speed performance, and structured data.
• Practical experience with AWS, Docker containerization, CircleCI pipelines, and Git version control.
• Autonomous, proactive mindset and comfort navigating ambiguity with end-to-end ownership.
• Curiosity and foundational familiarity with JavaScript.
• Computer Science degree.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum and/or Kanban.
• Proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience or interest in headless CMS architecture.
• Familiarity with Platform.sh or advanced Drupal site theming.
