Your role

Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) is a vital component of IT Service Management (ITSM) that focuses on managing and maintaining the integrity of an organization’s IT assets and their configurations. This discipline ensures that all assets, including hardware, software, and documentation, are accurately recorded and maintained throughout their lifecycle. It plays a crucial role in supporting effective service delivery and decision-making within the organization.

Your tasks

• Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date inventory of all configuration items (CIs), including hardware, software, licenses, and associated documentation.
• Classify configuration items based on their criticality, usage, and value to the organization, prioritizing management efforts effectively.
• Oversee the complete lifecycle of configuration items, from acquisition and deployment to maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning.
• Identify opportunities for optimizing the utilization of configuration items, reducing costs, and enhancing operational efficiency.
• Ensure that all configuration items comply with licensing, legal, and regulatory requirements, as well as internal policies.
• Work closely with vendors to procure configuration items, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships effectively.
• Identify and manage risks associated with configuration items, including potential security vulnerabilities, maintenance challenges, and end-of-life concerns.
• Maintain accurate records of configuration-related information, contracts, licenses, and warranties to support effective management.
• Coordinate changes to configuration items, ensuring alignment with configuration management objectives and conducting impact assessments.
• Generate reports and analyze data related to configuration management to support decision-making regarding asset utilization, costs, and efficiency.
• Plan and oversee the proper disposal or decommissioning of retired configuration items in an environmentally responsible manner.

Your profile

• A degree in a relevant field such as IT Management, Information Systems, or Business Administration.
• Demonstrated experience in service asset and configuration management, IT asset management (ITAM), or a related role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and optimize configuration management processes.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and vendors.
• Knowledge of configuration management and ITAM tools and methodologies.
• Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM) or equivalent certification.
• ITIL Foundation Certification, with a focus on service management principles.
• English and German language proficiency at C1 level is required.
