Forward Deployed Engineer (OpenAI)

About the role

We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to help customers successfully implement AI-powered solutions using OpenAI technologies. In this client-facing role, you will work closely with customers to understand their business challenges, build production-ready AI applications, and integrate Large Language Models into existing enterprise systems.

Depending on your experience level (Regular or Senior), you will contribute to solution design, implementation, and customer success while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers to understand business requirements and identify AI use cases
• Design, build, and deploy AI-powered applications using OpenAI technologies
• Integrate Large Language Models into enterprise systems and business workflows
• Develop backend services and APIs to support AI solutions
• Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions and AI workflows
• Integrate AI applications with existing enterprise platforms and data sources
• Prototype, validate, and optimize AI solutions for production environments
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Data Engineers, and Solution Architects
• Troubleshoot technical issues and optimize application performance
• Contribute to best practices for AI engineering and customer delivery
• For Senior-level candidates: lead technical discussions, mentor team members, and support solution design

Requirements

• Commercial experience in software engineering
• Experience building applications using OpenAI APIs or similar Large Language Model platforms
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Experience developing REST APIs and backend services
• Understanding of Generative AI concepts and LLM-based applications
• Experience integrating enterprise systems and external APIs
• Knowledge of prompt engineering and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Experience with Git and CI/CD
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work directly with customers and translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Fluent English — C1

• Experience with Azure OpenAI
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndex
• Experience with vector databases
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Knowledge of AI evaluation and observability tools
• Experience working in consulting or customer-facing engineering roles
