Chief Forward Deployed Engineer

Senior • Remote

Gdansk, PM, Poland

We are looking for a Chief Forward Deployed Engineer to build AI-native solutions where LLMs and their harnesses are central to the value delivered. This is a builder’s role: you and your team will build agentic systems, write production code, and establish evaluations and observability. You will work closely with SMEs and end-users to identify value and design feedback loops.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship end-to-end AI-native systems: agents, workflows, RAG, and harnesses including custom tool calling, sandboxing, context engineering, sub-agents, caching, and compaction.
  • Build evaluation pipelines and use them to demonstrate that systems are genuinely useful.
  • Design for failure in agent loops, including retries, model fallbacks, cost limits, and human-in-the-loop handling for consequential actions.
  • Capture domain expertise and repeatable workflows so successful approaches can be applied across engagements.
  • Engage early to shape use cases and assess technical feasibility.
  • Write production-grade Python for integrations, APIs, data access, and deployment.
  • Work directly with SMEs and end-users through interviews, UAT, and workflow observation to validate that systems fit real working practices.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of engineering experience, with a strong recent record of building production AI/LLM applications rather than prototypes or research only.
  • Strong agent-design judgment, including matching task harnesses to the context, failure modes, and policies of the real task.
  • Ability to work close to clients: lead discovery and feasibility discussions, collaborate directly with SMEs and end-users, and explain technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Hands-on experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, or similar, and major LLM providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini.
  • Expert-level Python and strong software engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong RAG and retrieval skills, including vector databases, embeddings, hybrid search, re-ranking, chunking, and context management.
  • Proven experience evaluating generative AI quality using LLM-based evaluation, heuristics, or custom evaluation frameworks, plus observability/tracing tools such as LangSmith, Arize Phoenix, Langfuse, or similar.
  • Production deployment experience on at least one major cloud platform—AWS, Azure, or GCP—including containerization and CI/CD.
  • Sound judgment under ambiguity when scoping, sequencing, and balancing speed, quality, and scope.
  • English at C1 level.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing experiments, A/B testing, and iterating AI products using real user behavior and business metrics.
  • Background in NLP, Data Science, or applied ML, including moving models into production.
  • Familiarity with MCP, A2A, Agent Skills, and emerging agent standards.
  • Experience with enterprise AI platforms such as AWS Bedrock AgentCore, Databricks Genie, Microsoft Foundry, or Gemini Enterprise.
  • Exposure to AI governance, security, and compliance, including guardrails and prompt-injection prevention.
  • Prior client-facing or pre-sales experience in a consulting or services environment.

We offer

  • Engineering community of industry professionals.
  • Friendly team and enjoyable working environment.
  • Flexible schedule and remote work within Poland.
  • Opportunity to work abroad for up to 60 days annually.
  • Business-driven relocation opportunities.
  • Career roadmap, leadership development, career advising, soft-skills, and well-being programs.
  • Certification opportunities for GCP, Azure, and AWS.
  • Unlimited access to LinkedIn Learning, Get Abstract, and Cloud Guru.
  • English classes.
  • Stable income through an Employment Contract or B2B arrangement.
  • Participation in the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Benefits package including health insurance, multisport, and shopping vouchers.
  • Offices with entertainment and relaxation zones, table tennis, football, free snacks, coffee, and more.
  • Referral bonuses and corporate, social, and well-being events.

The set of bonuses may vary depending on the role; details will be discussed during the general interview. Only selected candidates will be contacted.
