About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE3) to join one of our Kraków engineering squads within Global Money Movement. Depending on team needs at the time of hire, you will join one of three squads: one that builds and operates the platform for securely storing and validating customers' financial instruments and data; one that powers customer accounts and wallets; or one that operates the core platform processing the movement of money across our global payment network.

Our platforms run on AWS and support high-throughput, high-availability services that are critical to products and regulatory obligations.

As a Senior Software Developer, you will lead the design and delivery of cohesive features and product functionality owned by your team. You will operate independently in application design, code refactoring, and system improvements, and collaborate across teams and with external banking and payment partners where relevant.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable backend services and APIs for storing, validating, or moving customers' financial data.
  • Break down complex, cross-team features into components that can be delivered in parallel.
  • Drive team-level projects from technical design through production readiness, including compliance and security considerations.
  • Guide application design decisions and promote long-term maintainability across service boundaries.
  • Identify and mitigate technical debt and operational risks.
  • Improve system scalability, reliability, and performance for high-volume, regulated financial systems.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for stakeholders and external banking and payment partners.
  • Provide code and design reviews and mentor engineers.
  • Partner with Product, Operations, and cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements and delivery plans.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
  • 6+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience using AI throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, Kotlin, or Go.
  • Experience designing secure, scalable, and performant distributed systems.
  • Experience operating and improving production systems in AWS.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience leading technical design initiatives.
  • Experience mentoring engineers.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • B2+ English proficiency.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with DynamoDB or other large-scale NoSQL data stores.
  • Payments or Fintech experience.
  • Experience with PCI-scope systems or regulated data.
  • Experience designing multi-tenant platform services.

The starting base salary range for this position is typically zł 320,000 – zł360,000 per annum. Equity is part of the total compensation plan.

About the Role: App Platform Engineering builds and maintains the foundational mobile and web platform that all Remitly product teams build on top of. We own the architecture, shared frameworks, build and release infrastructure, design system, and developer tooling. These let product teams ship faster and with higher quality. This also eliminate the need for product teams to solve the same hard problems twice. As a Senior Software Development Engineer you will report to Senior Engineering Manager in Krakow and work with peer team in Poland and U.S. You will follow a hybrid model based in Remitly's Kraków city center office, typically three days on-site and two days remote. You Will: Own the architecture and evolution of our mobile and web platform – decisions that 10+ product teams depend on Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, feature flagging, and safe rollout infrastructure — from pipeline design to app store delivery Lead the shared component library, design system, and localisation engine — partnering with UX to set standards for performance, accessibility, and observability Enable product teams through documentation, tooling, and architecture reviews — and help the team stay current on React Native and AI-assisted development Mentor junior engineers and uphold quality standards, including regulatory compliance You'll bring: BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience, 7+ years building products at scale, ideally including platform or infrastructure work .
