Principal Water Resources Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate to Principal Water Resources Engineer to join our team in our Reno, NV office. As an Associate to Principal Water Resources Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and mentoring staff, developing and implementing water resource projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and addressing complex water-related issues. The successful candidate will have an established client base in their geographic region with a proven track record of leading design teams and providing high quality deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage water resources projects, from planning and design through to construction and completion.
- Oversee or conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, analysis, and simulations.
- Develop and implement sustainable water management solutions.
- Provide technical expertise in stormwater management, flood control, water quality, and watershed management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver innovative solutions across multiple client sectors and regions.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, and regulatory compliance documents; certify documents as appropriate.
- Provide technical review of peer work-product.
- Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to connect with regional clients and successfully pursue and win water resource and environmental projects.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in water resources engineering.
- Proficiency in overseeing the use of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.
- Strong knowledge of local and federal environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Excellent project and staff management and leadership skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
- Certified Floodplain Manager certification is desirable.
- Civil Design skills are a plus.
Compensation
Compensation for this position is based on years of experience, technical expertise, technical education, and geographic location.
Pay Range: $135,000—$200,000 USD
