About the Role
The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing both the accounting operations and financial planning & analysis functions. This position combines traditional accounting responsibilities with forward-looking financial analysis and strategic planning, reporting directly to the assistant controller with significant exposure to the CFO.
What You'll Do
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements
- Assist FP&A team with business partnering and forecasting
- Manage and review account reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet accounts and tax requests/payments
- Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and internal control procedures
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits
- Review work of accounting / shared services staff for accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with IT to enhance financial systems and automate manual processes
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed
Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, CPA required
- 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial analysis
- Big 4 or top 10 accounting firm experience highly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills (vlookup, pivots, sumifs, financial modeling)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Other Preferences
- Familiarity with trade lifecycle and settlement accounting for equities, futures, and options
- Experience with broker-dealer regulatory reporting strongly preferred
