Responsibilities
- Perform tasks associated with maintaining laboratory operations while strictly adhering to QMS, CLIA, and ISO regulations
- Perform QA/QC tasks and experiments including reagent and instrument qualification and test system validation
- Conduct equipment maintenance such as eyewash checks, freezer defrosts, incubator maintenance, routine maintenance, and instrument troubleshooting
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory procedural rooms, including waste disposal and re-stocking
- Ensure all procedures and documentation meet Quality Management Standards
- Manage specimens, supplies, and reagent inventory
- Identify and dispose of expired reagents and chemicals
- Perform traditional and molecular laboratory testing, including outbreak response applications
- Provide basic data analysis for tests performed
- Assist senior laboratorians with non-CLIA testing activities
- Support research and surveillance testing activities
- Prepare datasheets, documents, standard operating procedures, and worksheets
- Conduct database curation including adding, removing, cleaning, and editing data
- Participate in internal and external meetings
- Assist in preparation for internal and external safety and quality audits
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences including Biology, Microbiology, or closely related field
- Practical knowledge of BSL-2 or BSL-3 procedures
- Ability to adhere to strict laboratory safety, quality management, and laboratory practices
- Ability to rigorously follow highly detailed SOPs
- Proficiency with MS Excel and Word
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
