Job Description
Olsson's Facilities Engineering and Design Team provides comprehensive engineering services for large commercial developments, healthcare facilities, laboratories, educational institutions, data centers, and military installations. Services include engineering analysis, design services, professional consulting, building inspection, and forensic investigation. As a member of this team, you will contribute to diverse, high-impact projects, delivering engineering solutions that make a tangible difference in communities and industries.
As a Licensed Structural Engineer on the North Central Facilities Engineering and Design team, you will perform various engineering and project management duties related to evaluating, designing, and constructing projects. You may assist with developing project scopes and schedules and coordinate the work of other staff members. Opportunities to travel may arise for client meetings or site visits.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform structural design calculations on a diverse range of project types and materials.
- Prepare design drawings to be used for construction.
- Prepare project specifications to support construction drawings.
- Coordinate structural design with architectural and other disciplines.
- Meet project schedules.
- Attend project meetings with clients.
- Perform occasional site observations of projects.
- Apply knowledge of standard techniques, methods, and procedures to assist with coordination of project design aspects.
- Communicate project development and progress with project managers and clients.
- Enter and maintain project information and client records in the firm's project management system.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering.
- Master's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering (structural emphasis) preferred.
- Registered Professional Engineer.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
