Job Description

Olsson's Facilities Engineering and Design Team provides comprehensive services for large commercial developments, healthcare facilities, laboratories, educational institutions, data centers, and military installations. Services include engineering analysis, design services, professional consulting, building inspection, and forensic investigation.

The Lead Engineer oversees high-level project design and manages overall design tasks within the structural group. This role makes influential recommendations and decisions regarding advanced engineering activities and specialized client standards and holds full technical responsibility for design assignments. The position manages the delivery of advanced project designs that provide high-quality solutions to complex engineering and design needs.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead large-scale project design as technical lead for complex assignments from initial design through project completion.
  • Execute high-level analysis and review of project documents to ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Oversee and monitor engineering processes and resources to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement standards and guidelines for diverse engineering activities.
  • Provide technical design training and mentoring to elevate team expertise.
  • Support project management by organizing technical resources and utilizing them effectively.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet objectives.
  • Demonstrate creativity, decision-making, and responsibility for discipline-specific design tasks.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis.
  • 12-20+ years of related Structural Engineering experience.
  • Registered professional engineer with at least four years of experience supervising technical personnel.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding client expectations through technical design work.
  • Strong client service orientation.
  • Solid interpersonal and decision-making skills with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
