The successful candidate will join a collaborative team of specialists and play a central role in expanding advanced cardiovascular surgical services for companion animals. The Cardiac Surgeon will work closely with specialists in Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, Anesthesiology, Emergency and Critical Care, Diagnostic Imaging, Oncology, Internal Medicine, and Rehabilitation to deliver comprehensive, state-of-the-art cardiovascular care.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinical Service
- Provide consultation, diagnosis, and surgical treatment for congenital and acquired cardiovascular diseases.
- Perform advanced cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgical procedures in canine and feline patients.
- Collaborate with cardiologists in patient evaluation, treatment planning, and long-term management.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and specialty rounds.
- Contribute to innovative treatment protocols and advanced surgical techniques.
- Participate in emergency surgery rotation (1:9).
Program Development
- Establish and grow a nationally recognized veterinary cardiac surgery program.
- Develop clinical pathways, quality metrics, and outcomes assessment programs.
- Support expansion of hybrid surgical-interventional cardiovascular procedures.
- Promote excellence in patient safety, perioperative care, and clinical outcomes.
Research and Innovation
- Participate in clinical, translational, and outcomes-based research initiatives.

Description The Senior Veterinarian in ER will play an integral role in the Emergency and Critical Care Department. Clinical responsibilities include primary case receiving and oversight of interns and ECC residents seeing emergency cases. The overnight rotation includes oversight and monitoring of all pets hospitalized in the ICU and supervision of interns in the ER.
