We are looking for an experienced QA Automation Lead to take full ownership of testing in a modern, high-impact product environment. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be the single point of responsibility for quality across the entire application.

You will join a cross-functional team based in Poland, working closely with international stakeholders, to deliver an innovative laboratory software solution used in a regulated environment.

Work mode: fully remote

About the Role

You will step into a key role with end-to-end ownership of the testing strategy, covering everything from automation architecture to compliance-ready documentation. The team delivers software end-to-end and collaborates in an efficient, mostly asynchronous way.

What You Will Do

  • Own and continuously evolve the test strategy based on risk and business impact

  • Decide what to automate at unit, component, integration, and end-to-end levels

  • Build and maintain a Playwright-based automation framework (fixtures, parallel execution, isolation)

  • Design and execute exploratory testing scenarios beyond automated coverage

  • Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), implementing effective quality gates

  • Use AI tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot) to accelerate testing while maintaining full ownership of decisions and quality

  • Maintain QMS-compliant documentation (traceability matrices, test plans, reports)

  • Enable and coach developers to own quality through best practices, patterns, and testability improvements

  • Collaborate in an asynchronous, delivery-focused environment with minimal meeting overhead

Must-Have Requirements

  • Proven experience owning and building test automation frameworks (Playwright or equivalent)

  • Strong knowledge of testing patterns (Page Object Model, Screenplay, AAA, data-driven testing)

  • Deep understanding of modern testing strategies (test pyramid, shift-left, isolation, parallelism)

  • Strong programming skills in TypeScript and Java (beyond test scripting)

  • Solid experience in API testing (REST, integration testing, contract testing, data validation)

  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and quality gate ownership

  • Structured approach to exploratory/manual testing

  • Practical experience using AI tools in testing workflows

  • Very good spoken and written English

Nice to Have

  • Performance testing experience (k6, JMeter, Gatling)

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and containerized environments

  • Experience in regulated environments (e.g. medical, pharma, IVD)

  • Domain knowledge in laboratory or clinical systems

  • Experience with test management tools (e.g. Allure TestOps, Xray, Zephyr)

We offer

  • Ongoing support from a dedicated agent, taking care of your project continuity, client contact, necessary formalities, work comfort and development,

  • Consultant Development Program – advice on growth planning based on the latest trends and market needs in IT, including consultations with agents and growth mentors,

  • Access to 7N Learning & Development – a development and educational platform with webinars, a library of articles and industry reports, and regular invitations to one-time and recurring development events – technical, business, and lifestyle,

  • Spectacular integration events, both for you (e.g., annual Kick-Off trip, Christmas parties, or Summer Olympics sports events) and for your loved ones (e.g., family picnics, movie premieres),

  • Professional development not only during the project – you can get involved in knowledge transfer to others within the 7N Services offering directed at 7N clients,

  • Relationships and access to the knowledge of the most experienced IT experts in the market – the average professional tenure of our consultants in Poland is over 10 years,

In this role, you will be the guardian of product quality, combining manual testing, functional testing, and automation with a strong product and system-thinking mindset. You will promote a shift-left quality approach, ensuring issues are identified as early as possible and that every delivered feature is valuable, reliable, and resilient. This role requires a balanced QA profile — someone comfortable with both hands-on manual testing and automation, rather than a purely manual tester or a full-time automation specialist. Key Responsibilities Write and execute manual test scenarios using Gherkin (BDD) Identify, analyze, prioritize, and report defects Deliver clear and actionable quality reports to stakeholders Design, implement, and improve regression test scenarios Participate in and facilitate quality ceremonies (Bug Triage, 3 Amigos, Quality Chapter) Design, develop, and maintain product-oriented automated tests (end-user focused) Contribute to the evolution of the global Quality Strategy Share QA best practices within the squad and across teams Skills & Experience Hard Skills Proven experience writing product-centric test scenarios Hands-on experience with Java & Cucumber (automation and BDD) Solid background in manual, functional, API, and UI testing Ability to work effectively in complex, large-scale projects Experience with CI/CD pipelines and a DevSecOps-oriented quality approach Strong understanding of Agile methodologies ISTQB, TMAP, or Agile certification is a plus Soft Skills Strong critical thinking and results-driven mindset System thinking with a continuous improvement orientation Proactive and solution-focused approach Open to feedback and effective in collaborative, complex environments Additional Information The ideal candidate has seniority and versatility, combining manual testing, functional testing, and automation. Automation is not a full-time responsibility at present, but the team is moving toward increased automation. Due to the current team setup (few testers, many developers), we are not able to hire a full-time automation-only specialist. Candidates should be comfortable switching between manual and automated testing, depending on project needs.
