Payroll Project Manager

 

This role is responsible for overseeing large-scale improvements and modernization of payroll operations across a multi-country environment. The position focuses on redesigning processes, coordinating system adjustments, and strengthening collaboration between finance, HR, and operational teams to ensure accurate and efficient payroll delivery.

The successful candidate will bring experience from international or shared service environments and demonstrate the ability to guide cross-functional initiatives that improve operational performance, compliance, and employee service quality.

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate initiatives aimed at redesigning payroll workflows across multiple service delivery centers, ensuring alignment of processes and operational standards.

  • Review existing payroll procedures to identify operational gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process simplification or technology-driven improvements.

  • Implement initiatives that strengthen payroll reliability, timeliness, and overall service quality for employees.

  • Work closely with finance and local operational teams to ensure payroll processes, payment flows, and reporting practices remain consistent and properly aligned.

  • Support configuration and alignment of payroll-related systems, including data management activities, reconciliation processes, and system updates.

  • Collect and interpret country-specific payroll and time-tracking requirements and translate them into operational or system adjustments.

  • Cooperate with global project stakeholders to ensure consistency of transformation initiatives across multiple locations.

  • Provide leadership teams with regular updates on project progress, milestones, and operational improvements resulting from transformation activities.

Key requirements:

  • min. 3 years of professional experience within HR or payroll operations, including exposure to shared services or centralized delivery models.

  • 2+ years of experience in HR or Payroll Project Management

  • Demonstrated involvement in payroll process improvement, transformation initiatives, or vendor transition projects.

  • Solid understanding of payroll technology solutions, regulatory considerations, and operational payroll frameworks in international environments.

  • Strong communication skills combined with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across departments and locations.

  • Experience working in matrix organizations and coordinating initiatives involving multiple functional teams.

  • Analytical thinking and structured problem-solving capabilities, with strong attention to operational detail.

  • Experience supporting payroll technology upgrades, system implementations, or automation initiatives would be beneficial.
