Description

You will design, build, test, and deploy scalable reporting and analytics data pipelines in an Azure and Databricks environment. The role requires end-to-end ownership: creating new production-ready pipelines, refactoring and stabilizing existing ones, and aligning with group standards for governance, security, engineering, and operations. You will also contribute hands-on to onboarding Core Products data workloads onto the Group Data Platform and maintain clear documentation and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Deliver new, production-ready pipelines for priority reporting use cases

• Assess, refactor, and stabilize existing reporting pipelines

• Maintain pipelines so data assets are delivered reliably every day

• Build pipelines aligned with architecture, governance, security, and engineering standards

• Provide documentation, monitoring, and operational ownership for maintainable handover

• Review and improve reliability, performance, maintainability, and observability

• Translate reporting needs into robust technical solutions with data and product engineering stakeholders

• Onboard Core Products data workloads onto the Group Data Platform

• Ensure compliance with standards for data modelling, code quality, testing, CI/CD, documentation, security, and monitoring

• Own SRE practices for data pipelines and products

• Diagnose data incidents and pipeline failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions

• Document data flows, dependencies, transformation logic, and operating procedures

• Share knowledge and engineering practices with the Core Products data team

Requirements

• At least eight years of professional experience in Data Engineering, including ownership of production-grade data pipelines

• Strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks (both compulsory)

• Advanced SQL and Python skills

• Strong experience designing, building, and operating data pipelines and analytical data products

• Familiarity with modern data-platform and lakehouse principles, including medallion architecture and dimensional modelling for reporting

• Experience with software-engineering and DataOps practices (version control, automated testing, CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, incident management)

• Experience with SRE practices and continuous operational improvements

• Strong stakeholder communication and cross-team collaboration

• Data modelling skills and the ability to plan across different data scopes and business objectives

• Ability to work autonomously, make sound technical decisions, and document them clearly
