Quick Facts

  • Role: FinOps Engineer (FinOps Cloud Engineer / Optimization Specialist)
  • Focus: Multi-cloud cost optimization, initially logging/observability and storage cost drivers
  • Clouds: Azure, AWS, GCP
  • Work model: Office-based in Krakow (~6 days/month)
  • Rate: Up to 145 PLN/h net + VAT (B2B)

Description

You will work hands-on across Azure, AWS, and GCP to identify, quantify, and deliver cloud cost optimization opportunities. You’ll combine engineering automation and Infrastructure as Code with FinOps practices to implement sustainable controls that reduce run-rate, improve transparency, and prevent cost re-growth. You’ll partner with platform, SRE/observability, security, and product teams, producing executive-ready reporting with projected savings forecasts.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritize optimization opportunities across ingestion, retention, tiering, sampling, routing, and exclusion rules by ROI and risk
  • Implement optimizations via automation/IaC with rollback plans and post-change validation
  • Build and deploy automation for logging and storage cost optimization across an enterprise multi-cloud estate
  • Analyze logging data using cloud-native tooling to identify cost drivers and reduction opportunities
  • Produce optimization proposals with projected savings forecasts
  • Operate within client governance and compliance standards and obtain required approvals
  • Support tagging/labels and improve allocation models for chargeback/showback accuracy
  • Define and maintain policies/guardrails (e.g., default retention standards, workspace quotas, budget alerts)
  • Run optimization “clinics” with platform and application teams to align owners, timelines, and expected savings
  • Create executive-ready reporting (trend, forecast vs actual, risks)
  • Present technical findings and recommendations to senior engineering stakeholders
  • Create runbooks, controls, and documentation; ensure changes pass risk/compliance checks
  • Monitor for cost regression and implement automated drift detection

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of Azure and good knowledge of AWS and GCP cost drivers and pricing mechanics
  • Hands-on experience with at least two public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP), including native logging/monitoring services
  • Strong understanding of logging/observability architecture: ingestion and routing, retention policies, storage cost drivers
  • Practical understanding of FinOps principles: cost allocation and showback/chargeback
  • Proven ability to analyze logging data at scale to identify cost drivers and deliver measurable savings
  • Demonstrated automation at scale using Python, Bash, and/or Terraform (including CI/CD and repeatable deployment patterns)
  • IaC/automation experience: Terraform and policy-as-code
  • Experience producing savings forecasts and structured optimization proposals with clear assumptions and impacts
  • Experience working in governed enterprise environments using compliance, operational risk, and change control frameworks
  • Strong communication skills presenting technical analysis and influencing senior stakeholders

Benefits

  • B2B rate up to 145 PLN/h net + VAT
