Description

The Registered Nurse is accountable for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for assigned patients and participates in decision-making and quality improvement activities that improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care provided by support personnel for a specific shift
• Identify changes in a patient’s physiological condition
• Communicate patient status to the multidisciplinary team
• Communicate directly with patients and families about nursing care
• Provide clinical interventions to meet patient needs
• Document the nursing process; monitor and document patient response to therapeutic interventions and progress toward outcomes
• Assimilate information from multiple sources and implement an appropriate plan for safe, quality care
• Assure safety and security of patients, significant others, and staff
• Perform ongoing assessment of assigned patients and their biopsychosocial and learning needs
• Contribute to the plan of care in coordination with the patient care coordinator as appropriate
• Implement actions to respond to patient and significant other needs
• Demonstrate a cost-effective approach using equipment, supplies, and other resources appropriately
• Follow established policies, procedures, and standards of care; participate in quality improvement activities
• Follow research protocols for assigned patients

Requirements

• Current license as a Registered Professional Nurse or eligible in the State of Illinois
• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing
• BLS CPR certification
• Preferred: 1 year of experience
