Description

This Clinical Laboratory Scientist develops and recommends policies and procedures for installing and using the Laboratory Information System (LIS) in conjunction with the hospital information system (HIS). The role advises organizational leadership on LIS capabilities and provides authoritative consultation as the local expert. Responsibilities include maintaining laboratory coding/mapping for ordering, reporting, billing, and workload recording, supporting day-to-day laboratory computer operations, and participating in software testing for laboratory information packages.

Responsibilities

• Develop and recommend policies and procedures for LIS/HIS installation and use

• Implement and maintain laboratory coding and mapping for test ordering, reporting, billing, and workload recording

• Analyze emerging software and technology trends and adopt appropriate methods for local programs

• Advise organizational levels on LIS functions and capabilities

• Serve as an expert for LIS consultation and day-to-day laboratory computer operations

• Support alpha/beta testing of software packages with national LIS developers

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship

• Proficiency in written and spoken English

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution

• Required MLS/MT/CLS certification path (generalist certification or categorical/specialist certification where applicable) OR eligibility for certification exam/temporary appointment routes

• Completion of required onboarding and pre-employment steps, including an online assessment

• Subject to background/security investigation

• Seasonal influenza vaccination program participation required
