Description

The Principal Hardware Engineer provides technical leadership and end-to-end product engineering ownership for custom integrated circuits, from development through production transfer. You will drive fabrication, wafer-test, characterization, qualification, and reliability requirements, performing statistical yield and risk analyses, ESD evaluations, and wafer-level Design of Experiments (DOE) activities. A core outcome is a clean handoff to production with robust test solutions, documented technical knowledge, and stable wafer-test yields.

Responsibilities

• Lead research, design, development, and testing of electrical or mechanical hardware such as computer chips, circuit boards, and components.
• Define and validate production specifications; analyze hardware configuration and processing solutions; ensure conformance to specifications.
• Drive custom integrated circuit product engineering activities from development through production transfer.
• Define fabrication, wafer-test, characterization, qualification, and reliability requirements.
• Analyze statistical yield data, technical risk, and reliability performance to identify and mitigate product issues.
• Plan and execute ESD evaluations and wafer-level experiments using DOE.
• Partner with design, test engineering, operations, quality, reliability, and wafer fabrication suppliers to resolve complex technical issues.
• Manage development wafer inventory and wafer-level build requirements.
• Deliver robust test solutions, stable wafer-test yields, demonstrated product reliability, and documented technical knowledge for production handoff.
• Establish standard work and improve product-development processes using DOE and statistical analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with 5+ years OR PhD with 3+ years.
