Description

Lead, mentor, and grow a platform engineering team responsible for platform and infrastructure components (deployment, monitoring, databases, load balancing, Kubernetes). Own the platform roadmap and deliver self-service platform capabilities with clear usage contracts for vertical application teams. Make data-driven decisions, run experiments when needed, and manage on-call alarm dispatch and capacity planning for scaling.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop ~8–10 systems and backend engineers
• Own the vision and roadmap for the platform layer
• Define and evolve the team’s scope as multiple platform teams may be created
• Delegate ownership of platform areas (e.g., monitoring, deployment, security) to senior engineers
• Build self-service platforms with clear usage contracts and define how teams should use them
• Base complex decisions on data and evidence (including experiments)
• Participate in IT-wide capacity planning for platform scaling
• Own the framework for routing on-call alarms to the right teams and reduce noisy alarms

Requirements

• 2+ years in a technical leadership role (Team Lead / Engineering Manager) leading project teams
• Strong hands-on background in distributed systems and systems engineering
• Comprehensive understanding of complex IT systems (hardware, software, algorithms)
• Knowledge of concurrent programming and distributed systems
• Critical performance analysis skills for production optimization
• Strong programming background and ability to do deep code reviews
• Experience building platform capabilities as products (usage contracts, best practices, cross-team rollouts)
• Comfortable owning a technical area end-to-end and communicating across teams
• Self-directed, proactive approach
• C1-level English and Polish fluency
