Description

In this role, you will bridge Finance stakeholders and technical engineering squads to define detailed data requirements, testable business logic, and field-level source-to-target mapping rules for a Databricks-based loyalty revenue accounting platform. You will translate complex accounting and revenue allocation rules into precise technical specifications and Jira user stories with clear acceptance criteria. You will collaborate across the delivery lifecycle to validate built data pipelines against the specifications.

Responsibilities

• Define and document detailed data requirements for a Databricks-based platform solution with Finance product teams and technical architects

• Specify business logic in testable terms, including calculations, revenue allocations, transaction treatment rules, and accounting journal outputs

• Produce comprehensive source-to-target mapping specifications with field-level definitions, data transformations, and reference data structures

• Write user stories, functional requirements, and unambiguous acceptance criteria in Jira so engineers can build and testers can validate

• Maintain end-to-end traceability from business objectives to technical mappings and ongoing specification updates

• Identify data anomalies, edge cases, and scope gaps early, including potential solutions and business impact assessments

• Collaborate continuously with product manager, data engineers, architects, and quality engineers to validate pipelines against specifications

• Facilitate solution walkthroughs and formal sign-offs with Finance stakeholders and business owners

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst on data-centric initiatives (data platforms, data warehouses, or data migration projects)

• Track record of defining low-level data mapping logic and technical business rules

• Extensive experience writing and structuring user stories and acceptance criteria in Jira

• Practical ability to read, query, and reason about complex data models, schemas, and tabular structures using SQL

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills translating between commercial Finance and technical delivery squads

• Hands-on experience working in iterative Agile delivery teams

• Availability for a full-time 6-month freelance contract with immediate or near-term start

Nice to Have

• Hands-on familiarity with Databricks Lakehouse or similar cloud data environments

• Domain knowledge in corporate finance, revenue accounting, or financial reconciliations and journal generation

• Experience working with loyalty programmes, airline systems, or travel industry data structures

• Understanding of event-driven architectures and streaming data sources
