Description

Build and maintain custom themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks for a portfolio of high-traffic, multilingual WordPress sites. Develop reusable libraries, block collections, Composer packages, and tooling that help teams deliver faster. Own code quality and performance (refactor legacy code, optimize queries and caching, meet Core Web Vitals) and build REST API integrations with internal and third-party systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain custom themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks
• Create and maintain reusable libraries and block/tooling collections
• Refactor legacy code and optimize performance (caching, queries) to meet Core Web Vitals
• Build and consume REST APIs and integrate internal/third-party systems
• Participate in code reviews and improve CI/CD and engineering standards
• Collaborate with product, marketing, SEO, and content teams on new features and site improvements
• Follow software development best practices and deliver on time

Requirements

• 3.5+ years as a WordPress Developer using OOP PHP (8.x), namespaces, PSR-4, and Composer
• Deep knowledge of WordPress core APIs: hooks, custom post types and taxonomies, meta/custom fields (ACF Pro and native), WP_Query
• Production experience building Gutenberg blocks with React, JSX, block.json, and @wordpress/scripts
• Strong modern JavaScript (ES6+), build tooling (webpack/Vite), and modern CSS (Sass or PostCSS; Tailwind is a plus)
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, including custom WordPress REST endpoints
• Knowledge of WordPress security (escaping, sanitization, nonces, capabilities) and performance (object caching, query optimization)
• Comfort with Git-based workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to work in an AI-assisted workflow (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) and to review/verify generated code
• English Intermediate+ or above
