Description

You will work on a modular, scalable simulation platform that enables TeslaSI developers to run virtual test drives instead of real ones.

The role builds photorealistic 3D scenes, improves realism and performance of an in-house GPU ray tracer, and adds algorithms for real-time rendering with complex lighting.

You will also enhance simulation tools used to reproduce Autopilot behavior and improve correlation to real-world driving.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of a modular, scalable simulation platform

• Collaborate across the TeslaSI team to understand simulation requirements and develop tools

• Enhance realism and performance of the in-house GPU ray tracer

• Implement algorithms for real-time rendering of realistic scenes with complex lighting

• Improve existing tools and features for reproducing Autopilot behavior in simulation

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of light transport, appearance models, and color science

• Experience researching, developing, and optimizing state-of-the-art ray tracing techniques (NEE, RIS, MIS)

• Knowledge of modern graphics APIs and shader languages

• Experience working with training frameworks and understanding modern machine learning concepts

• Experience with CPU/GPU optimization

• Confidence with modern C++

• Experience with modern physically based rendering engines

• Excellent mathematics skills (linear algebra, calculus, probability)

• Deep understanding of tradeoffs in engine performance, scalability, and maintainability

• Experience supporting tools such as exporters, terrain editors, and GPU debuggers

Expected Compensation

$118,000 - $390,000 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
