Cloud AWS and Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Mid • Hybrid

Brno, Czech Republic

Quick Facts

  • Role: Cloud AWS & Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Description

You will help build, operate, and continuously improve an AWS cloud environment for high-availability, secure, high-performance services in the Unity loyalty program. The role combines AWS infrastructure operations with SRE practices (SLI/SLO and error budgets), Kubernetes on AWS (EKS), Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD with GitOps, observability, and root-cause incident prevention. You will collaborate daily with developers, architects, support, security, and infrastructure/database teams to standardize practices and improve how the cloud platform is used.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and operate AWS services for areas such as networking, IAM, compute, databases, storage, and integration services, including highly available solutions.
  • Apply SRE principles to keep systems stable, measurable, sustainable, and resilient (capacity, performance, availability, failure tolerance).
  • Operate and develop Amazon EKS clusters and support teams deploying containerized applications (availability, scaling, connectivity, security, efficient resource use).
  • Manage cloud infrastructure as code by building and improving automation with Terraform and other tools; reduce manual steps.
  • Collaborate on safe, automated delivery of changes using CI/CD pipelines and GitOps, including automated checks and configuration management.
  • Develop monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting—focus on the right signals at the right time, ideally before customers notice issues.
  • Handle incidents across application, Kubernetes, networking, and AWS layers; after recovery, focus on true root cause, automated remediation, and prevention. Participate in on-call support for critical services as defined by the team.
  • Improve security and resilience: access controls, network security, secret management, encryption, backups, and disaster recovery.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align technical standards, share knowledge, and make the cloud platform easier for teams to use.

Requirements

  • 2–3+ years of practical experience operating production services and designing solutions/architecture in AWS.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation using Terraform and Teragrunt.
  • Familiarity with AWS services: EKS, EC2, VPC, IAM, Route 53, Elastic Load Balancing, S3, and RDS/Aurora or CloudWatch.
  • Understanding of Linux, networking, and operation of distributed systems.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
  • Understanding of CI/CD and automated deployments.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot issues across multiple layers to find the real root cause.
  • Consideration of availability, scaling, security, performance, and cost.
  • Ability to work independently while also sharing information and collaborating.
  • Production mindset: automate changes, test, measure, and safely roll back.
  • Active use of AI tools for analysis, automation, and daily technical work.
  • Czech communication skills and ability to communicate technically in English.

Benefits

  • Opportunity to significantly influence cloud services, architecture, automation, operational standards, and the overall way AWS is used across Air Bank and Unity.
  • Work in an AWS-focused environment treated as a strategic platform rather than an experiment.
  • Collaboration with engineering, security, and infrastructure/database teams to continuously improve reliability and operational excellence.
