Description

You will operate and continuously improve an on-premises backup environment built with Veeam and NetBackup. The role includes planning and performing maintenance such as firmware updates and patches, handling complex incidents (1st/2nd level) and coordinating with vendors when needed. You will also evolve ITIL-based operational processes and enhance monitoring, automation, and standardization.

Responsibilities

• Operate the backup environment based on Veeam and NetBackup in an on-premises setup

• Plan and carry out maintenance work, including firmware updates, patches, and technical optimizations—even during live operations

• Analyze and resolve complex incidents at 1st- and 2nd-level support; coordinate with manufacturers and external support teams when required

• Improve operational processes for incident, change, and problem management according to ITIL using tools such as BMC Remedy, Jira, and Confluence

• Develop monitoring, automation, and standardization for day-to-day operations and during regular maintenance

• Collaborate with IT architecture and business units to implement technical requirements and participate in system lifecycle management

• Create technical documentation, operating handbooks, and work instructions

• Participate in on-call duty and be willing to work shifts

Requirements

• Multi-year experience operating and troubleshooting complex backup infrastructures with Veeam and NetBackup

• Very good knowledge of Veeam Backup & Replication and NetBackup (certifications are beneficial)

• Experience with ITIL-based operations and tools such as BMC Remedy, Jira, and Confluence

• Willingness for on-call duty and shift operation

• Very good German and good English proficiency (written and spoken)
