Description

You will lead the mobile-first, AI-native candidate experience for a product that conducts AI-led interviews and produces structured evaluations. The role centers on designing for non-determinism—how the system adapts what it asks, signals listening and understanding, fails gracefully, and how candidates correct and build trust. You will prototype first, including building AI-coded prototypes to align quickly, then partnering with a design technologist to productionize.

Responsibilities

• Lead the AI-native candidate experience end to end.

• Co-own AI behavior with engineering and data science (interview flow, adaptation, uncertainty, graceful failure, calibrated trust).

• Design for high-volume candidates using only their own mobile device (one-handed, cellular, single sitting, under evaluation stress).

• Build AI-coded prototypes to resolve open questions and drive alignment.

• Set standards for acceptable AI-generated work vs. hand-crafted design.

• Frame problems and surface risks; drive clarity while strategy is forming.

• Establish interaction and visual standards for longevity.

• Influence partner teams across product, engineering, and data science.

• Recommend strongly (with data) and defend positions to senior leadership.

• Prioritize ruthlessly and tie design work to measurable outcomes.

• Mentor designers and raise AI fluency.

Requirements

• 7+ years of design experience.

• Experience carrying designs through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.

• Experience developing, deploying, and managing AI products at scale.

• Experience with prototyping and implementation.

• Experience designing for both mobile and desktop applications.

• Experience building complex software systems delivered to customers, or designing/architecting systems (design patterns, reliability and scaling).

• Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence roadmaps.
