Description

You will help extend an existing Excel/VBA-based simulation model for an industrial dryer to reproduce drying behavior of dispersion adhesives more accurately. Your goal is to improve predictions of product moisture and reveal optimization potential in the drying process by combining measured dryer data, experimentation, and model calibration.

Role description

• Adapt and extend a VBA-based drying simulation environment

• Use experimental results to refine model parameters and validate predictions against real process data

Responsibilities

• Analyze the existing VBA-based simulation environment

• Evaluate available dryer measurement data

• Plan and conduct experiments to determine sorption and diffusion parameters

• Integrate experimental results into the model

• Adjust and calibrate model parameters

• Compare simulations with real process data

• Experimentally determine residual product moisture

• Assess model quality and identify improvement opportunities

Requirements

• Enrollment in Process and Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a comparable degree program

• Basic knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and mass transfer

• Interest in modeling, data analysis, and experimental process engineering

• Basic knowledge of Excel/VBA (advantage)

• First experience in the lab or with technical trials

• Interest in statistics and experimental design

• Ability to collaborate across disciplines with production, development, and external partners
