Description

Design and build the backbone of a 24/7 network monitoring platform that collects, stores, queries, and acts on telemetry from tens of thousands of network devices. You will own the architecture, uptime, and scaling challenges, partnering with network engineering and AI teams to ensure data is structured for diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Build metrics collection pipelines (polling/streaming/APIs) and land data into time series and log storage
• Own device inventory and topology systems (discovery, reconciliation, config tracking, change detection) at scale
• Build and run alerting (threshold checks, baselines, anomaly detection)
• Design APIs exposing device state, metrics, alerts, and relationships for dashboards, CLI tools, and AI agents
• Build config management/automation tooling (generate, validate, push, rollback)
• Maintain platform health (capacity planning, fault tolerance, storage lifecycle, retention) and monitor system health end-to-end
• Ensure clean telemetry flow to downstream consumers (Grafana, reports, AI diagnostic engine)
• Lead end-to-end technical projects (design docs, code reviews, architecture decisions, mentoring)

Requirements

• 8+ years building and running production infrastructure software
• Experience with Go, Java, C++, Rust, or Python
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals and real-world tradeoffs
• Experience with time series databases and high-cardinality metric performance impacts
• Experience with telemetry normalization frameworks (e.g., MetricWeave)
• Experience operating log aggregation at scale (e.g., Splunk, Elasticsearch, Loki)
• Comfort owning production, CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, and service instrumentation
• Ability to design collection pipelines for very large device counts and identify bottlenecks/failure points
• Led technical projects through to production and iteration
