Tech Lead Manager — Platform, Delivery & Reliability

WHY THIS ROLEZadbano is a Polish logistics company in a real transformation towards a technology-platform model. Technology is where we build our operating model and our business advantage. Seven engineers today. This role owns the people, the organisation of work and the quality of delivery — player-coach, side by side with the Head of Innovation who sets direction. It is for someone who wants real influence and to see the effect of their work in how the company runs, without escaping engineering into pure management.CORE OF THE ROLEFull responsibility for the people, the organisation of work and the quality of delivery — player-coach: you lead the team, and you sit down to the analysis, the code or the incident yourself when that is the shortest way to a solution.WHAT YOU WILL DO● Lead a team of 6–9 engineers (business applications, support and infrastructure line): 1:1s, feedback, growth, recruiting● Own the organisation of work: decomposition of business needs into tasks, prioritisation, queueing and flow in JIRA — the team always knows what now, what next and why; business sees status without asking● Predictable, complete delivery in a two-week rhythm (strict DoR / DoD); reliability: incident and problem management, RCA with permanent root-cause removal● Technical authority: design and code review, mentoring, engineering decisions where the team is blocked, own contribution where it speeds things up● AI-native engineering as the team standard — AI is the default way of working, from code assistants and agents to automated ticket triage — measured by real effect, not fashion● Application and data security: DevSecOps, vulnerability and access management, backup / DR, incident response, GDPR compliance, vendor oversight● Stewardship of long-lived in-house systems (TMS / WMS, e-commerce, integrations): maintenance, refactoring, gradual modernisation without breaking business continuity; recommendations (modernise, cloud, build vs buy) backed by an operating-cost caseWHAT WE LOOK FOR● 7+ years in software engineering, 3+ years leading a team● Genuinely hands-on: you read code, run reviews, understand architectural consequences and can still take a problem from analysis to a working solution. Our dominant tech stack relies on: Node.js, TypeScript, React, Vue, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes● Advanced JIRA practice — backlog, boards, dashboards, reporting; you lead the team in it, not just know the tool● AI-native engineer: AI tools are your daily workshop (code assistants, agents, data and document analysis), you have rolled them out to a team and can show what changed● Maintaining and modernising long-lived legacy systems without interrupting the business● Practical security: DevSecOps, vulnerabilities and access, backup / DR, incident response● Modern delivery cycle: CI/CD, cloud (AWS / GCP), Kubernetes, Docker, observability● Modern leadership: servant leadership, OKR, Kanban / Scrum without dogma, management by metrics, high-performance culture● Fluent at the technology–business interface; Polish and English at working levelNice to have: Logistics domain (TMS / WMS), ERP and e-commerce integrations; experience transforming an IT team or department; FinOps — cloud and licence cost awareness.WHAT WE OFFER● A real mandate and a single point of accountability, with a short decision path● Direct work with the Head of Innovation and visibility at board level● A modern system of work based on metrics and AI● A transformation with real business stakes: logistics and e-commerce, systems the whole company runs on daily● A written 30-day goal agreed with you before the offer — and regular reviews on impact, in the openYOUR FIRST 30 DAYSWe align on your first 30-day goal together — with you and the team — based on the current focus areas, before the offer. Both sides sign the same sentence. Then, in regular reviews:DORA metrics measured and improving sprint over sprint; every incident closed with an RCA and a removed cause; AI-assisted practices adopted with a measured effect on lead time; cost per delivered order trending down.HOW WE WORKA maturing, deliberately built system of work: strict Definition of Ready / Definition of Done, management by metrics (DORA, SPACE), AI-assisted triage of support requests, a portal for internal customers. Our north star is the value of delivered work confirmed by the business. No methodological dogma — methods serve delivery.HOW WE WORK TOGETHERA team that agrees on “why” before deciding “how”.You join a team that questions its own assumptions before it commits, asks customers and clients the questions that move things forward, and uses new technologies to see what it cannot see alone. Every task opens with for whom and what should change. Ideas are tested against a KPI together, kept when they work and let go when they do not — without blame. What you build here is a track record of proven impact, and it is yours.THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS● Step 1 — A conversation, not a CV screen: Thirty minutes about what you are best at and one thing you proved. No title matching.● Step 2 — Working session: Two hours with the team on a real zadbano. case. We watch which questions they ask and how they align on the why.● Step 3 — The 30-day goal: We write the first-30-days expectation together with the candidate before the offer — both sides sign the same sentence.● Step 4 — Review, then regular: Day 30: did the result land? Then regular reviews on impact, in the open decision log like everyone else.Question before you decide. Align on intention. Measure together, show the impact. This is how we take care of people. This is how we take care of everything.
