Description

District Support Pharmacists cover pharmacist scheduling gaps within a district and support pharmacy teams under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader. The role travels to stores as scheduled, ensures safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, assumes day-to-day pharmacist duties during bench shifts, and helps manage pharmacy operations and inventory best practices. The position also includes patient-centered coaching, immunizations, compliance with regulations, and ongoing clinical/technical skill development through required training and CME.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense medications, provide counseling, and deliver immunizations using safe and appropriate practices

  • Travel to fill scheduled pharmacist shifts and act as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts

  • Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and workstation safety guardrails

  • Assume Pharmacy Manager day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty

  • Improve patient experiences through empathy, coaching, collaboration with the healthcare team, and proactive resolution of insurance and/or medication issues

  • Proactively offer and deliver immunizations; engage and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize

  • Manage pharmacy inventory by following inventory best practices, with special focus on protecting cold chain products

  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, engaging team dynamic

  • Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through company-required trainings and CMEs

  • Support access to care through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (e.g., testing and prescribing) where permissible

  • Comply with federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS policies, including controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping

Requirements

  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located

  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)

  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list

  • Ability to travel within a reasonable radius

  • Regular and predictable attendance, including weekends

  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframes
