Description

Senior Data Engineer for a telecom data transformation program, migrating analytics environments from on-prem to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and building a data platform supporting business processes, analytics, and future AI/LLM use. You will implement Data Governance standards in GCP, including data cataloging and metadata management, data lineage, data quality, and data ownership/access policies. You will collaborate with Data Engineering, BI, and data owners to enable data discovery, understanding, and controlled sharing.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement Data Governance processes and standards in GCP

  • Build and develop a data catalog; manage metadata

  • Define metadata models, catalog structures, and relationships between data objects

  • Implement data lineage, data quality, and data ownership solutions

  • Create and enforce data standards and access policies (access management)

  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, BI, and data owners on governance and data quality

  • Support business users in searching, understanding, and using data

  • Define and implement Data Contracts and data exchange standards

  • Document processes, standards, and data models

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of GCP experience as a Data Engineer

  • At least 3 years in Data Governance/Data Management/Data Quality

  • Practical knowledge of the GCP ecosystem, especially BigQuery, Dataplex, and Data Catalog

  • Experience with data modeling and metadata

  • Advanced SQL with hands-on optimization (queries, aggregations, indexing)

  • Knowledge of data lineage, data quality, data stewardship, and data ownership

  • Experience creating technical documentation and performing code reviews

  • Teamwork and communication skills with business, technical, and analytics teams

  • Proactive, responsible, quality-oriented approach to data work
