Description

You will work on the boundary between a cloud-based integration platform and the in-store POS system. The role includes designing and implementing backend services and POS functionality, as well as building custom web applications that run in the POS embedded browser with a JavaScript API bridge. You will deliver features end to end and support integrations, localization, and fiscalisation across European markets.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services for the global retail sales platform (domain services, REST/SOAP interfaces, message-driven integrations, data access layers)

• Develop POS functionality using the proprietary stack (Spring-based backend, custom DSL)

• Build and maintain extensions and integrations/configurations within the retail platform while avoiding changes to the POS core where possible

• Work with Data Containers, Master Data distribution, and the Service API layer for POS integrations

• Implement business processes: checkout flows, payment handling, barcode processing rules, and loyalty engine integrations

• Contribute to localization and fiscalisation of POS solutions for different European markets

• Apply proper lifecycle management (versioning, environment promotion DEV → TEST → PROD)

• Develop custom web applications launched on the POS and running in an embedded browser (JxBrowser/Chromium) via the App Enablement Framework and its JavaScript API bridge

• Build backend endpoints and integration flows required by the web apps so features are delivered end to end

• Extend and maintain enterprise frontend applications (Employee Hub, Launchpad)

• Work within in-store hardware constraints (touch input, limited screen real estate, operator speed)

Requirements

• 4+ years of Java development experience (Java 8+, ideally Java 11+), including JUnit, JPA/Hibernate, and JAX-RS/JAX-WS

• Solid Spring Framework experience in both modern Spring (Boot, Data, Cloud) and legacy Spring (XML/Java-based configuration, annotations, custom extensions)

• Experience with REST and SOAP interfaces, API documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI), and microservice communication patterns

• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL) and data modeling

• Working knowledge of at least one modern JavaScript framework (React, Angular, Vue.js, SAP UI5 or similar) and TypeScript

• Practical knowledge of Git and CI/CD/version control workflows (Jenkins, Sonar, Gradle)

• Understanding of POS systems, retail checkout flows, and payment processing concepts

• Knowledge and practice applying design patterns and fundamentals of Domain Driven Design

• Experience with agile development methodologies (SCRUM)

• Fluent English and Polish (B2/C1 minimum)
