Databricks Data Architect (Healthcare & Life Sciences)

Senior • Remote

200 - 250 PLN/yr

Kraków, MA, Poland

Quick Facts

  • Role: Data Architect (Databricks Lakehouse, Healthcare & Life Sciences)
  • Focus: End-to-end AI lifecycles and production-grade ML systems

Description

You will lead the design and deployment of end-to-end AI lifecycles for global healthcare and life sciences clients. Move beyond isolated models to architect scalable, production-grade ML systems on the Databricks Lakehouse, combining deep learning expertise, data engineering rigor, and a consultant mindset for clinical validation and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable computer vision pipelines using PyTorch or TensorFlow to process large-scale medical imaging datasets (DICOM, NIfTI) with Databricks Runtime for ML.
  • Architect end-to-end MLOps workflows with MLflow for experiment tracking, model versioning, and transition from research to production-grade model serving.
  • Build efficient data loaders and preprocessing for high-dimensional medical data, using Apache Spark to parallelize image transformation and feature extraction.
  • Enforce data lineage and security protocols with Unity Catalog so model training and inference meet healthcare regulatory standards (HIPAA/GDPR/HITRUST).
  • Provide technical leadership and client advisory on build-vs-buy medical AI tooling, including model interpretability and bias mitigation in clinical settings.
  • Implement CI/CD for ML (Git integration, Databricks Asset Bundles) and standardize using Feature Stores for consistency between training and real-time inference.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in Machine Learning or Data Science, including at least 3 years deploying models in the Databricks ecosystem.
  • Proven experience with medical imaging formats (DICOM, NIfTI, WSI) and familiarity with MONAI, SimpleITK, or OpenCV.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python (PyData stack) and SQL; PySpark experience for large-scale data manipulation is essential.
  • Production experience in Azure (Azure Machine Learning, ADLS Gen2) or AWS (SageMaker, S3), including GPU instance management and cost optimization.
  • Expertise in MLflow across the full lifecycle and experience with Delta Lake for unstructured imaging metadata.
  • Familiarity with Databricks Model Serving or TorchServe.
  • Strong knowledge of deep learning architectures (CNNs, Transformers, SegNet) and medical diagnostics evaluation metrics.
  • Fluent English (C1+) to translate complex technical concepts into business value.
  • Ideally hold Databricks Machine Learning Professional or specialized Cloud AI certifications.

Benefits

  • Cooperation models: Employment Contract (UoP) or B2B (Poland); B2B only (Romania/Greece).
  • 100% remote work from anywhere in Poland/Romania/Greece.
  • High-end tech: Apple MacBook Air M4 15" provided.
  • Referral bonus.
  • Certification support for all Databricks technical certifications.
  • Support for reaching top Databricks expertise tiers (e.g., Champion program) aligned to your career track.
  • Opportunity to present at global industry conferences and contribute to technical thought leadership.
  • Mentorship with Databricks MVPs and core product teams.
