Description

This PRN Paramedic position supports emergency department care by assisting with IV starts, EKGs, continuous vital-sign monitoring, and airway management tasks under hospital protocols. You will work closely with nurses and physicians during emergencies, including trauma care, CPR, resuscitation support, and patient transport. You will also maintain clinical readiness through supply stocking and point-of-care testing as permitted by hospital policy.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures including IV insertion, EKG acquisition, and continuous vital signs monitoring under supervision
• Assist with airway management, oxygen therapy, suctioning, and support during advanced airway procedures and resuscitation
• Provide wound care, apply splints, assist with suturing, and respond as part of the team during medical emergencies
• Transport patients to diagnostic areas or inpatient units and support room turnover/preparation
• Maintain clinical readiness by stocking essential supplies and performing point-of-care testing as permitted
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and EMS personnel to support trauma care and high-acuity patient management and transitions of care

Requirements

• Current and valid paramedic license issued by the State of Missouri
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained
• ACLS within 30 days upon hire and maintained
• PALS and/or ENPC required within 30 days upon hire and maintained
• Minimum 1 year as a paramedic in EMS or in an acute care hospital setting (ER setting preferred)
• Facility-specific: Non-OB facilities may require NRP 30 days upon hire and maintained
