Description

This role focuses on the design of low and medium-voltage switchgear assemblies/systems and associated power systems equipment, ensuring compliance with IEEE/ANSI, IEC, and NEC/NFPA 70E standards. The engineer will aid in engineering customized low voltage and medium voltage equipment, including control and protection scheme development and ownership of electrical projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate electrical control and protection schemes for low and medium-voltage switchgear equipment, including interfaces and interconnections for new and retrofill/retrofit applications.
  • Create engineering documents for customer approval: drawings, one-line, foundation drawings, wire list, and bill of material.
  • Own and manage large electrical projects: coordinate engineering activities, ensure timely completion, and maintain quality.
  • Coordinate with plant engineering teams to support smooth project execution.
  • Participate in strategy discussions with sales, quotation, and project management teams for significant projects.
  • Review customer-supplied documents (technical specifications, customer one-liners, and related materials) to develop harmonized solutions.
  • Perform order reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with specifications and standards; identify issues early.
  • Use PLCs and/or relays to accomplish control scheme designs.
  • Create, test, and troubleshoot electrical schemes.
  • Apply Modbus communications for utility metering and circuit monitoring applications.
  • Support Modbus and TCP/IP communications, RS-485, Ethernet, and third-party interfaces.
  • Support production and quality assurance teams for manufacturing excellence.
  • Conduct site visits to assess condition and ratings of existing equipment.
  • Support testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering degree required.
  • 4 years of progressive post-bachelor’s experience required.
  • Experience in electrical design of switchgear/switchboard or other power distribution products (low or medium voltage).
  • Experience with Schneider Electric power distribution products preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to travel 2–3 days per month.
