Backend Engineer (Retention Team)

About the Role

Join the Retention domain as a Senior Backend Engineer, developing platforms and features that keep players engaged. The team delivers communication capabilities, including direct and indirect player communications, as well as tools supporting bonuses, loyalty programmes, and cross-channel experiences.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable, robust, and efficient solutions in a full-stack team while supporting continuous delivery in a microservice architecture.
• Participate in technical discussions; challenge, propose, and evaluate solutions while guiding business needs.
• Work closely with operational units and stakeholders.
• Drive initiatives with a high-quality mindset.
• Take end-to-end responsibility across the full development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with other domains across the organisation.
• Ensure the IT ecosystem is scalable and prepared for future expansion.

Essential Skills

• 4+ years of backend development experience using Java and/or Kotlin.
• Experience with messaging tools, such as Kafka.
• Experience with microservice architecture.
• Experience with Java frameworks including Spring and JPA.
• Experience with MySQL relational databases.
• Experience with AI tools such as Claude.

Nice to Have

• OpenAPI experience.
• BigQuery experience.
• Kubernetes experience.
