Backend Developer (.NET) in the EU

Description

Develop and enhance a modern digital insurance technology platform supporting the end-to-end insurance lifecycle, including quoting, policy issuance, payments, servicing, renewals, and claims. The platform delivers scalable, secure, reusable APIs and digital services for web, mobile, and partner ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build .NET 8 microservices using FastEndpoints and Clean Architecture (Domain, Application, Infrastructure, and API layers).
• Implement Temporal workflow orchestration, including typed workflow and activity interfaces, cross-task-queue dispatch, and signal/query patterns.
• Build rules-evaluation integrations with the GoRules ZEN engine using GoRules.Zen NuGet and in-process Rust FFI.
• Develop platform capabilities, including a configuration registry, rules API, workflow gateway, and payment and policy adapters.
• Implement cross-cutting concerns: Managed Identity service-to-service authentication, Cerbos authorization integration, and structured logging with Serilog/Anotar.
• Write and maintain xUnit tests using FakeItEasy for mocking and Shouldly for assertions; perform integration testing against real dependencies without a mock database.
• Collaborate with platform and domain teams on API contracts, OpenAPI specifications, and shared NuGet libraries.

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on .NET (v6+) development experience, including .NET 8.
• Strong understanding of Clean Architecture principles, strict layer dependency rules, separation of business logic from the API layer, and Result-based error handling for business errors.
• Hands-on experience with ITemporalClient, IWorkflow, IActivity, task-queue registration, and cross-task-queue dispatch.
• Strong experience with Azure Key Vault, Managed Identity, Blob Storage, and Application Insights.
• Experience with structured error-handling patterns; familiarity with Result/Maybe patterns is preferred.
• Strong experience with Entity Framework Core or equivalent ORM technologies, including migrations, value objects, and aggregate roots.
• Hands-on automated-testing experience using xUnit, FakeItEasy, and Shouldly, including integration-testing patterns.
• Strong experience with containerized local development using Docker, Podman, or equivalent tools.
• Good understanding of Dockerfiles and multi-stage builds.
• Experience running and troubleshooting a complete local development stack with Podman Compose, including application services, Temporal, and databases.
• Intermediate+ English.

Nice-to-haves

• Strong experience with FastEndpoints 7.x, including endpoint-per-feature patterns, validators, and mappers.
• Experience with the GoRules ZEN engine, including JDM format, ZEN expression language, and decision-table compilation.
• Experience with the Cerbos .NET client, including principal/resource construction and CheckResource middleware integration.
• Experience with JSONata .NET (Jsonata.Net.Native) for data transformation.
• Understanding of Kafka consumer patterns.
• Experience with SOAP/WCF client integration.
• Hands-on experience with the Temporal .NET SDK.
