Go Developer

Andersen is hiring a Go Developer for a project developing a global digital platform and delivering scalable backend solutions for the insurance and assistance industry.

The project focuses on developing and enhancing a global digital platform supporting travel, automotive, health, and assistance services. It delivers scalable, reliable solutions that improve customer experience and streamline business operations.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve a real-time cross-selling platform, working with real-time data flows and business logic for personalized offers in an insurance context.
• Own the backend powering multiple user-facing applications and advance a gRPC-based microservice architecture.
• Design and maintain REST/gRPC APIs integrating with core insurance platforms and third-party services, including risk scoring, KYC, and payments.
• Model and manage transactional PostgreSQL data, including policies, claims, customer records, and audit trails.
• Implement event-driven workflows with RabbitMQ or Kafka for reliable claims events, policy updates, and notifications.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests, particularly for monetary calculations and claims/premium accuracy.
• Instrument services with Grafana and Prometheus to monitor critical flows and proactively identify issues.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality.
• Take a proactive role in platform design and development, emphasizing scalability, availability, and resilience.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, QA, and DevOps in an Agile/Scrum framework to translate evolving business and regulatory requirements into technical solutions.
• Contribute to architectural decisions that balance flexibility for multiple consuming applications with long-term maintainability and fault tolerance.

Must-haves

• 5+ years of commercial development experience, including 3+ years of Go experience in production environments.
• Higher education in Computer Science, software development, or a related field.
• Extensive experience with AI and implementing/configuring it within a team.
• Experience in fintech or banking and with complex integrations.
• Strong hands-on Go experience, including concurrency with goroutines and channels.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining production-grade gRPC microservice architectures.
• Experience containerizing and deploying backend services.
• Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including schema design, query optimization, and database migrations.
• Hands-on RabbitMQ or Kafka experience for event-driven and asynchronous communication.
• Experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
• Practical experience writing unit and integration tests for backend services.
• Experience instrumenting services with Grafana and Prometheus, including metrics collection, monitoring, and alerting.
• Experience designing scalable, highly available systems for high-throughput, real-time workloads.
• Active code-review participation with a focus on code quality and knowledge sharing.
• End-to-end ownership of backend components throughout their lifecycle.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong understanding of fault-tolerant design, idempotency, SLA considerations, and service reliability.
• Upper-Intermediate English or higher.

Nice to have

• Experience in insurance or other regulated domains.
• Familiarity with data privacy and compliance standards, including GDPR and PCI DSS.
• Understanding of core insurance concepts, including policies, underwriting, and the claims lifecycle.
