Senior C Engineer (with C++)

Scope of the role

  • Maintain and develop an analog/mixed-signal simulator in a mature product.
  • Approximately 80% of the codebase is C and 20% is C++.
  • Approximately 80% of tasks involve maintenance within existing C code, with 20% focused on new functionality.
  • Work on algorithms that simulate electrical phenomena and translate electronic circuits into the digital world, including reflections in long lines, disturbances, noise, and electrical states on a PCB.
  • Use matrix methods and systems of equations for some simulation topics.
  • Take ownership of a product area and collaborate internationally.
  • Work in the Polish time zone, with two afternoon meetings per week with the US West Coast team, code reviews, and architecture discussions.

What you need to join us

Must have:

  • At least 5 years of commercial software development experience.
  • Fluency in reading and modifying C code, navigating a large, long-lived codebase, and experience with C++.
  • Ability to manually implement and interpret C data structures, including stacks, lists, and queues, without STL support.
  • Memory-handling skills: allocation, freeing, and conscious selection of variable types.
  • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
  • Understanding of modeling, including mathematical modeling.
  • Experience developing and/or maintaining complex software architectures and algorithms.
  • Experience with Visual Studio.
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and electronic circuit construction, including current, voltage, and circuit analysis.
  • Willingness to develop in simulation algorithms.
  • MSc or PhD in computer science, electronics, or a related field.
  • English at C1+ level.
  • Authorization to work within Poland, such as citizenship, residence card, or visa.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of systems of equations, methods for solving them, and math-based algorithms, including calculus and algebra.
  • Comfort with matrix operations, including transformation, inversion, addition, and work with large matrices.
  • Familiarity with electrical and electronic circuit analysis.
  • Familiarity with a hardware description language: VHDL, VHDL-AMS, Verilog, or Verilog-AMS.
  • Bash scripting, Java knowledge, or measurement scripting in TCL.
  • Experience with EDA-class products and understanding of EDA objects and principles.
