Senior DevOps Engineer - fully remote within Europe (m/f/d)

What It’s All About

Your Role

As Senior DevOps Engineer on the Portal Infrastructure team, you will strengthen, scale, and improve the infrastructure that enables the business to move quickly and confidently. This is a growth-focused role centered on building resilient, high-performing infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Keep web applications and services running smoothly; identify and resolve bottlenecks before they become problems.
• Optimize system performance and cost using current tools and approaches.
• Scale infrastructure for a growing worldwide user base.
• Refine deployment and release processes to make code delivery fast and safe.
• Help product teams set up and improve CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
• Partner closely with development teams and collaborate with an international engineering team.
• During the first 3 months, become a go-to person for infrastructure support and take ownership of key maintenance tasks.
• By month 6, be fully ramped up and ready to join the on-call rotation.

What You’ll Need

• 4+ years of experience operating large-scale, distributed systems in production.
• Expert-level Linux administration skills, including storage and networking.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and comfort working with classic data-center environments.
• Proven ability to deploy and manage applications with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Solid practical knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery.
• Experience delivering infrastructure services across multiple countries.
• High standards for quality, ownership, and teamwork.

Nice If You Have

• Experience scaling services using GeoRouting.
• Coding experience.

The Tech

• Applications: PHP, Python, Golang, Apache2, Nginx, and HAProxy.
• AI tooling: Anthropic, Google, and Langfuse.
• Data layer: MySQL (Percona), PostgreSQL, Redis, and RabbitMQ.
• Cloud infrastructure: AWS, including EKS, ECS, RDS, ELB, CloudWatch, and CloudFront; plus Cloudflare.
• DevOps toolkit: GitLab, Kubernetes, Rancher, and Terraform.
• Scripting: Bash and Python.
• Monitoring: Prometheus, EFK stack, Grafana, Nagios, and Loki.
• Linux across on-premise systems, networking, file systems, and Docker environments.
