Founding Engineer

About the Role

We’re an early-stage startup building a product people use every day and looking for a Founding Engineer to help shape it. This is a full-stack role with a backend lean and a product-builder mindset. You’ll work directly with the founders, own technical decisions, and ship meaningful work from day one.

This is not a pure ML role or a PM role. The successful candidate is an engineer who builds, moves quickly, cares about the product, and is comfortable making calls with limited information.

What You’ll Do

• Build product features end-to-end across backend and frontend as needed
• Take ownership of technical decisions without relying on a committee
• Support 0-to-1 product development in an early-stage environment
• Contribute to ML-related product features when needed
• Collaborate closely with the founding team to define what gets built and how
• Move quickly, iterate, and ship while priorities evolve

Tech Stack

React, React Native, Node.js, Python. You do not need every technology on day one; fast learning and execution are essential.

Who You Are

Must-haves:

• Strong engineering fundamentals with full-stack experience
• Experience building products from 0 to 1, rather than only adding features to mature codebases
• Startup experience in a small team with high ownership and rapid iteration
• Backend-leaning background with comfort across the stack
• ML interest or ML-oriented thinking
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and identify work without waiting for tasks
• Comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities
• Ability to work hybrid in Warsaw

Nice to have:

• Previous founding engineer or early engineer experience
• Experience working directly with founders or users in a product-shaping capacity
• Experience building ML-powered product features
• Product sense beyond implementation, including thinking about what to build

Not required:

• Specific domain background
• A fixed number of years of experience; 3–4 years of strong relevant experience is a rough guide, but quality matters more than quantity
• Deep ML specialization
• Corporate background

Compensation

Approximately 20,000 PLN net plus VAT on B2B. Exceptional profiles may be considered above this range.
