Senior Java Software Engineer / Technology Lead

This role provides hands-on technology leadership for a product team delivering investor-facing solutions. The work focuses on full-stack backend development, including microservices, APIs, data-store design, legacy modernization, and adoption of cloud-native architecture.

Availability to work from the Krakow or Gdansk office 3 times a week is required.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership and accountability for the technology solution and team output.
  • Provide technology thought leadership and support sound technical decision-making.
  • Remove technology-related obstacles throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work with architects, the CTO organization, and cross-functional teams to ensure technology governance and best practices.
  • Understand functional and non-functional requirements and quality attributes; build solutions accordingly.
  • Contribute to and improve architecture and design.
  • Build, review, and ensure the quality of data models, API contracts, architecture, frameworks, and code.
  • Assist with effort estimation, planning, prioritization, and dependency identification.
  • Manage technology artifacts.
  • Analyze legacy applications and define target-state design and architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 8+ years of experience designing and developing microservices, REST APIs, and front-end applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot for backend microservices development.
  • Experience with AWS cloud-native services: EC2, S3, Lambda, Kinesis, Firehose, DynamoDB, EKS, and CloudWatch.
  • Proficiency in cloud-native microservices architecture and AWS.
  • API economy expertise with business acumen.
  • Ability to analyze legacy applications and define target-state architecture.
  • Experience working in Agile methodology.
  • Hands-on technology leadership, preferably in full-stack development.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Attention to detail and team leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Database, CTO organization, and API Economy teams.
  • Excellent English communication and presentation skills for a client-facing role.

Nice to have

  • Front-end experience with Angular and TypeScript.
  • Node.js backend-services experience.
  • Python familiarity for scripting or data-related tasks.
  • Experience with DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, or legacy DB2 databases.
  • Knowledge of Splunk or similar monitoring tools.
  • Experience with Cucumber and API testing tools.
  • Familiarity with Perfecto or similar mobile testing tools.
  • Financial services, asset management, or investor-facing platform background.
  • Data migration and legacy-system decommissioning experience.
