Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in product management leadership providing product vision and roadmaps, creating customer-facing products, leading packaging, positioning, messaging, and pricing, and driving go-to-market execution.
  • Experience in the enterprise market segment and addressing business needs with AI-driven solutions.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with enterprise databases, including relational and non-relational databases, large-scale distributed data systems, and infrastructure.
  • Experience with strategic thought leadership and the ability to drive business excellence and operational/product aptitude while simplifying existing go-to-market models.
  • Experience as an organizational leader with the ability to identify priorities and deliver successfully within accelerated timelines, with strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of application development, analytics, and AI/ML in relation to operational databases.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to code at a prototyping or experimental level.

The team's mission is to enable businesses to deliver scalable, secure, performant, and reliable solutions without the overhead of managing large-scale distributed databases. As Director of Product Management for Spanner, you will scale the Product Management organization and its leadership team to support a fast-growing databases business. You will establish customer-centric product strategy, build thought leadership in the market segment, and drive go-to-market strategy and execution across proprietary and open-source technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic outlook and collaborate with customers, partners, field teams, and engineering to offer a coherent roadmap for internal and external customers.
  • Work across product, engineering, and services teams to define, build, and support database products across a portfolio of offerings.
  • Drive decisions on prioritization, solutions, functionality, and pricing.
  • Build and drive a thought-leadership narrative with customers and industry thought leaders around databases and their role in the broader data landscape.
  • Define database product go-to-market strategies, identify market and competitive trends and customer opportunities, and plan and manage programs to execute those strategies in partnership with regional and global sales leadership.
  • Drive go-to-market strategy across industry-focused areas and customer segments.
