About the Role
The Insurance and Authorization Manager oversees and coordinates employees engaged in insurance verification, PCP referrals, and authorization approvals. The role is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing department employees.
Responsibilities
- Oversight of insurance verifications
- Obtaining PCP referrals for office visits and scans
- Obtaining authorizations for surgical procedures performed in office
- Managing prior authorization denials and PCP denials
- Handling out-of-network payers and treatment exclusions
- Providing customer service support
- Ensuring departmental targets are met
- Monitoring staff work and ensuring timely completion
- Conducting regular staff meetings
- Performing annual performance reviews
- Reviewing productivity and making staffing adjustments as needed
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution required
- 3+ years of progressively responsible managerial experience in medical settings
- 3+ years in a management or leadership role
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suites, including Excel
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease process
