We are hiring a Staff Electrical Engineer to impact development and validation of groundbreaking battery technology. As part of the BMS Hardware & Electrical System team, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of PCBA design — from requirements generation, component selection, schematic and layout development, design release through vendor DFM, bring up, verification, configuration management, and sustaining.
You will work cross-functionally with mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to deliver PCBAs that meet the highest safety and compliance standards.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for the full lifecycle of PCBA design — from requirements generation, component selection, schematic and layout development, design release through vendor DFM, bring up, verification, configuration management, and sustaining
- Ensure PCBA designs meet safety, reliability, and compliance standards for high-power and hazardous systems
- Create requirements, DFMEA/CFMEA, electrical block diagrams, simulations, analysis, schematics, layouts, bring-up/test plans, and 8 Discipline (8D) reports
- Work cross-functionally with System Engineering, Mechanical/Electro-Mechanical, Firmware/Software, and Test/Verification teams to define, design, and test PCBAs and resolve electrical system related issues
- Support troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of released PCBA designs
- Document design concepts, architecture, block diagrams, bring-up/test results, root cause investigations, and decision matrices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 7+ years of relevant experience; or Master's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in PCBA design ECAD software Altium or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with sensors, power electronics, processing systems, networking, onboard communication, data acquisition, and control systems
- Strong understanding of safety and compliance considerations in high-power and/or chemical environments
- Demonstrated experience designing PCBAs and electrical systems to UL 991, 1973, 9540, and 1998 requirements
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to balance speed, rigor, and safety
- Familiarity with PLM software, product development software such as JIRA, and requirement management tools such as JAMA
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
Salary Range
- $120,000-135,000
