Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to lead and manage a comprehensive citywide occupational health and safety program within the Office of Risk Management for the City of Philadelphia. This role involves high-level strategic planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety and health programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA and state-mandated standards.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in regulatory compliance, safety training program management, risk control strategies, and incident investigation. This is a key leadership role focused on cultivating a safety-first culture across diverse departments and operations.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in personnel administration or industrial engineering
  • At least one (1) year involving investigation and evaluation of operational or industrial processes and related employee injuries
  • At least one (1) year of professional experience managing or administering an occupational safety program for a large or complex organization

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Public Health, or related physical/biological sciences.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Valid driver's license or eligibility to obtain one
  • Professional safety certifications preferred, including CSP or ASP

Physical & Medical Requirements

Must be able to physically perform essential job duties, including walking, standing, climbing, and conducting field inspections in diverse environments.
