Purpose

Divergent is seeking a Service Specialist focused on maintaining and enhancing Additive Manufacturing (AM) equipment supporting aerospace and automotive manufacturing operations.

The Role

  • Maintain, enhance, and operate metal powder bed fusion additive manufacturing machines.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
  • Perform mechanical and electro-optical repairs, optimizations, and equipment relocations.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Execute optical and mechanical calibration procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and repair issues to minimize production downtime.
  • Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for automated systems.
  • Communicate machine status and estimated repair timelines.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks.
  • Use precision measuring instruments to verify repair accuracy.
  • Interpret schematics for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives including AS9100 and IATF 16949.
  • Assist with training programs, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide maintenance guidance to team members.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or Associate’s degree with equivalent maintenance technician experience.
  • Automation and machine control troubleshooting experience.
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Hands-on ability to work with additive manufacturing systems in a factory environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems and processes autonomously.
  • Ability to use hand tools and test equipment.
