Software Engineer (Performance)

Location: Wrocław / Rzeszów / Łódź / Warszawa

Work model: Hybrid (approximately 80% remote work, 20% office presence)

Responsibilities

As part of the Performance Engineering team, you will contribute to the development and continuous improvement of a large-scale cloud platform, focusing on performance, scalability, and reliability. You will evaluate new technologies, tools, and engineering approaches before their adoption and support performance validation of existing solutions to ensure they operate efficiently under real-world workloads.

  • Analyze performance bottlenecks and identify root causes across distributed system components in high-load environments handling large volumes of traffic.

  • Collaborate with development teams to continuously assess and improve platform performance.

  • Design, develop, and execute load and performance tests in close cooperation with architects and engineering stakeholders.

  • Evaluate existing and new platform components from a performance, scalability, and resilience perspective.

  • Develop and maintain infrastructure dedicated to performance and load testing activities.

  • Create, enhance, and maintain automated performance tests, reports, dashboards, and monitoring solutions.

  • Support engineering teams in implementing performance best practices and optimization initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Performance Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience with load testing, performance analysis, and scalability improvements.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including hypothesis creation, experiment design, metric definition, and result interpretation.

  • Experience working with high-scale backend systems and distributed architectures.

Technical Skills

  • Strong programming skills in Java; experience with Scala, Go, Python, or TypeScript is considered an advantage.

  • Experience with backend applications, messaging systems, asynchronous processing, reactive programming, and databases.

  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.

  • Experience with observability and monitoring solutions (e.g., Prometheus, ELK stack, APM tools).

  • Familiarity with REST API load testing tools and frameworks.

  • Experience with GitHub and CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions.

  • Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices.

  • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Pair Programming).

Additional Requirements

  • Strong communication skills in English.

  • German language skills are considered a plus.
