Description

The Cloud Storage Engineer provisions, configures, and maintains secure, scalable cloud and on-premises storage environments supporting mission systems. This role ensures high performance, availability, and compliance with federal and DoD requirements across hybrid cloud infrastructures, while supporting the modernization and optimization of enterprise storage solutions. The position operates in a dynamic environment requiring strong technical expertise, adaptability, and a focus on continuous improvement and innovation to enhance mission-critical capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Track and assess current data recovery and disaster recovery capabilities across both cloud-based and on-premises environments.
  • Plan, execute, and document disaster recovery failover activities within cloud infrastructures.
  • Maintain required levels of system uptime and performance for mission-critical applications.
  • Design, implement, and manage storage infrastructure components, including storage arrays, fiber channel switches, and data protection solutions.
  • Evaluate, develop, and deploy file sharing solutions aligned with operational requirements.
  • Diagnose complex storage-related issues across cloud and on-premises platforms.
  • Conduct storage utilization assessments, including capacity forecasting and performance optimization.
  • Create and maintain operational documentation, policies, and procedures.
  • Analyze emerging storage technologies and industry best practices.
  • Provide cloud-focused security administration support for storage and backup environments.
  • Apply and maintain system security updates, patches, and firmware upgrades.
  • Implement and enforce DISA STIGs, IASE policies, and other security controls.
  • Support security compliance activities including audits and POA&M tracking.
  • Manage security documentation, PPSM reporting, and PKI operations.
  • Perform cloud failover and disaster recovery operations including ISCP testing.
  • Execute cloud-based disaster recovery testing and produce after-action reports.
  • Conduct cloud vulnerability assessments within NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments.
  • Analyze and remediate storage and backup vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for cloud storage and backup environments.

Required Experience

  • 3 years of professional engineering experience with enterprise-level storage and backup technologies.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience with enterprise SAN management (Fiber Channel, iSCSI, FCoE, HBA/CNA, LUN, RAID, NAS).
  • Experience with enterprise backup and restore services such as Veritas NetBackup.
  • 2 years of experience working with DoD IT systems.

Required Certifications

  • DoD 8570 IAT II Certification.
  • One of the following: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional; Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert; NetApp Certified Hybrid Cloud Administrator; NetApp Certified Hybrid Cloud Architect; NetApp Certified Hybrid Cloud Implementation Engineer.

Required Security Clearance

  • Current DoD Top Secret Clearance.

Work Location

  • Onsite full-time at one of the following locations: MI (Battle Creek); OH (Columbus, Dayton); VA (Fort Belvoir, Richmond); UT (Hill AFB - Ogden); PA (New Cumberland, Philadelphia); CA (Tracy).

Preferred Qualifications

  • DoD 8570 IAT III Certification.

Work Environment and Physical Demand

  • Ability to work in a network closet and sit at a computer desk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift 35-40 lbs to shoulder height.
