IT Systems & Security Administrator

We are looking for an experienced IT Systems & Security Administrator to support and maintain a hybrid IT infrastructure environment. This is a freelance role with an expected workload of approximately 40 hours per month, primarily remote with occasional on-site visits in Warsaw required.

Your responsibilities:

  • Monitor network and system infrastructure using the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).

  • Maintain and develop security environments based on Palo Alto Networks firewalls.

  • Manage VPN configurations and collaborate with identity management administrators supporting Microsoft Entra ID.

  • Administer Windows Server environments, Hyper-V, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange Server.

  • Oversee and support integrations between on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft Cloud services.

  • Perform regular vulnerability assessments using Nessus and prepare security reports, findings, and remediation recommendations.

  • Provide technical support to users and IT teams regarding access to services, network resources, and business applications.

  • Investigate incidents, troubleshoot connectivity and communication issues, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Collaborate with customer infrastructure teams during system changes, upgrades, and deployments.

  • Support network equipment administration, including basic switch configuration and maintenance.

  • Analyze system and network logs to identify performance, security, and operational issues.

We are looking for you, if you have:

  • Proven experience in administering and maintaining enterprise network and systems infrastructure.

  • Hands-on experience with the ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for infrastructure monitoring, log analysis, and incident investigation.

  • Strong practical knowledge of Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including HA clusters, security policy management, software upgrades, VPN administration, and multi-ISP environments.

  • Experience administering Windows Server, Hyper-V, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange Server environments.

  • Knowledge of integrating on-premises infrastructure with Microsoft Cloud services.

  • Practical experience with SAML-based authentication and Microsoft Entra ID integrations.

  • Ability to administer and perform basic configuration of network switches.

  • Experience conducting vulnerability assessments and analyzing results using Nessus.

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills related to network communications, authentication, and hybrid environments.

  • Ability to analyze system and network logs to identify, investigate, and resolve infrastructure and security issues.

  • Experience collaborating with technical teams and supporting users in complex IT environments.

  • Professional proficiency in English.

Nice to have: 

  • Palo Alto Networks certifications (PCNSA, PCNSE).

  • Microsoft certifications related to Windows Server, Azure, or Microsoft Entra ID.

  • Experience working in hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and vulnerability management processes.

  • Experience with enterprise security monitoring and incident response activities.
